Winter Nail Polish Trends

Winter is in full swing! Each week I paint my nails to prep for the week ahead and I noticed that during the winter months, my color choices tend to shift towards warm, toasty and vampy colors. I love painting my nails. I used to paint them to match my outfits each day during middle school. While I am quite proud of that accomplishment now, I have had to tone my daily ritual down to a weekly one. In truth, painting my nails is my favorite part of the week. While I do work in corporate America and my work place is business casual, I tend to be more on the conservative side and always err on the side of caution when it comes to picking out polish. Below are a few work-friendly picks for this cozy time of the year!

Dior Vernis Gel Shine and Long Wear Nail Lacquer –

Oxblood. I love red polish year round. Oxblood is my shade to wear during winter, but it’s a vampy take on fun bright reds you tend to wear during the summer and fall. These shades can be hard to come by as I find many formulas to be streaky or flaky. Dior has a formula that’s pretty nice for this time of year.

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN Nail Colour – The Metalinudes –

Metallic shades. This can be a tricky one. I find that this trend works best if you looks for colors that are lighter in nature or very rich in color. Stay away from electric colors if you need to wear your polish at the workplace.

DEBORAH LIPPMANN Gel Lab Pro Nail Polish –

Jewel tones. One way to pare down your favorite colors is to opt for tones in your favorite shades. Purple is a great example!

MARC JACOBS BEAUTY Enamored Hi-Shine Nail Polish –

Sultry black. Black is one of my favorite nail polish shades of all time. I think it looks especially great during winter when everything tends to look cooler (not just the temperature). I wear this shade to work all the time. As long as you take care of your hands and keep your nails looking nice, it’s quite easy to pull off this trend.

Festive green. Green and red go hand in hand this time of year. If you’re looking to go a super festive route, consider doing some cool nail are in one look (check out my nails board below on Pinterest for inspiration). Green can be a surprisingly conservative shade to wear to work if you stick with darker hues. Chanel makes great long last formulas that are my go-to pick for this color family.

CIATÉ LONDON Snow Globe Collective: Nail Polish Set –

Glitter. While glitter is certainly popular year-round, I find that we tend to kick it up a notch during the holiday season. To dress this trend up a bit, stick with shades that play on one color to make them more appropriate for work.
